Calgary based climber Andrew Brash is returning to Everest this spring. In 2006, Andrew was 200 metres from the summit when he made the life-changing decision to give up his summit attempt to rescue a climber who had been left for dead. As it happens, Andrew is our neighbour here in Calgary, and pretty humble about what he’s accomplished in the mountains. He leaves to return to Everest in a couple of weeks – we’ll be watching and following his progress closely.
The second item in the article was interesting, a report on a panel discussion in New York, which reminds me of why I never had the yearning for the high peaks. The author’s last paragraph sums up my viewpoint nicely.
